Large financial firm with locations in NYC and Cranford NJ needs:
Property Lease Accountants
strong knowledge of lease accounting theory and principles.
primarily responsible for lease accounting and reporting procedures.
must be able to work independently
conduct investigations on accounts or transactions of an unusual nature or concern, provide feedback and recommendations on findings.
must work with individuals across the organization to gather necessary information.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the review and documentation of all new, renewed and amended leases for appropriate accounting treatment (capital versus operating lease classification).
Complete accounting checklist for all new, renewed and amended leases.
Maintenance of the lease accounting spreadsheet for all capital leases and preparation of the monthly journal entries related to these leases.
Prepare quarterly memos related to capital leases.
Responsible for accounting for sublease tenant rents and utility payments.
Prepare lease and any other necessary annual footnotes.
Documentation of accounting policies and procedures related to leases.
Assist in the monitoring of internal controls related to the Company's lease systems.
Additional projects as assigned.
General ledger and financial statements entries, analysis and reconciliation.
Reporting and Financial Statement preparation for several entities.
Experience with accounts payable processes and cash management.
Must possess an understanding of accounts receivable including large volume of tenant billings and receipts, and lease management.
Must be able to perform bank statement reconciliations and reconcile to General Ledger.
Understanding of cash and accrual accounting.
Will be required to learn how to set up the software system and add additional entities in the future.
Requirements:
Four year degree in accounting required
Property accounting experience is a plus
strong knowledge of lease accounting theory and principles.
CPA or CFA candidate a plus
Willingness to learn new systems, concepts and broaden knowledge in the industry
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure
Individual who takes initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities
Positive attitude
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Full charge staff accountant with a basic understanding of accounting software, preferably property management.
BASE SALARY To 115K
