The Billing Coordinator (Medicare & Medicaid Billing) is responsible for, but not limited to:

  1. Routinely monitors all high balance accounts to ensure follow up activity.

  2. Ensures all primary and secondary billing is followed up in a timely manner.

  3. Develops monthly action plans to lower receivable and increase cash flow.

  4. Ensures all applicable regulations and laws are met.

  5. Demonstrates confidence and knowledge of Commercial payors and Medicare billing processes and systems.

  6. Works closely with the cash poster and the team to ensure that all payments and allowances are accurate.

  7. Experience using Medicare Direct Data Entry (DDE)

  8. Submits NOE for assigned payors.

  9. Follow up on certification and re-certification pending list..

  10. Informs Manager of any Payor related issues of importance.

  11. Has proficiency in utilizing patient accounting system.

  12. Ensures that appropriate documentation is completed by hospice staff to meet billing requirements. Interact within office staff.

  13. Answers inquiries regarding financial data, accounting and billing.

  14. Maintains and submits monthly records of all Commercial and Managed Care Insurance patients.

  15. Verifies all incoming accounts.

  16. Performs insurance billing and payment audits periodically.


High School Diploma or Equivalent

Professional Experience:

  • 3+ years of related health care billing experience

  • Must have Hospice billing experience?

  • Knowledge of Home Health billing a plus

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel (intermediate to advanced)

  • Knowledge of state and federal billing and audit requirements

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
